What is ASTM A183 F44?
Due to its high molybdenum content, it has very high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. This grade of stainless steel was developed for use in halide-containing environments such as seawater, etc. 254SMO also has good resistance to homogeneous corrosion. Especially in halide-containing acids, the steel is superior to ordinary stainless steels. Its C content <0.03%, so called pure austenitic stainless steel (<0.01% is also called super austenitic stainless steel). Super stainless steel is a special stainless steel, first of all in the chemical composition is different from ordinary stainless steel, is a high alloy stainless steel containing high nickel, high chromium, high molybdenum. One of them is 254SMo containing 6% Mo, this kind of steel has very good resistance to local corrosion, in seawater, inflatable, the existence of crevices, low-speed scouring conditions, there is good resistance to pitting corrosion (PI ≥ 40) and good resistance to stress corrosion, is a substitute for Ni-based alloys and titanium alloys. Secondly, in the performance of high temperature resistance or corrosion resistance, it has more enhanced high temperature resistance or corrosion resistance, which is irreplaceable by 304 stainless steel. In addition, from the classification of stainless steel, special stainless steel metallographic organization is a stable austenitic metallographic organization.
