Ferro Silicon Magnesium (FeSiMg) alloy is a type of ferroalloy composed of iron (Fe), silicon (Si), and magnesium (Mg). It is primarily used as an additive in the production of cast iron and steel.

FeSiMg alloy is added to molten iron or steel during the manufacturing process to modify its properties. The alloy acts as an inoculant, helping to control the formation of graphite in cast iron and promoting the formation of spheroidal graphite (nodular graphite) instead of flake graphite. This results in improved mechanical properties, such as increased strength, ductility, and impact resistance.

The magnesium content in FeSiMg alloy is typically between 4% and 6%. It reacts with sulfur and oxygen impurities present in the molten metal, reducing their harmful effects on the final product. Magnesium also enhances the fluidity of the molten metal, improving the castability and filling of intricate molds or complex shapes.
