301 stainless steel is a widely used austenitic stainless steel grade, known for its excellent combination of corrosion resistance, high strength, and good formability. Conforming to ASTM A666 standards, 301 stainless steel strips and coils are particularly valued for their high tensile strength and work-hardening properties, making them ideal for applications requiring both durability and flexibility. The strips/coils offered here feature a thickness range of 0.15 - 2.0mm and undergo precise slit cutting to ensure burr-free edges, enhancing their suitability for automated manufacturing processes and high-precision assemblies.

The chemical composition of 301 stainless steel, as specified in ASTM A666, is as follows:

  • Nickel (Ni): 6.0 - 8.0
  • Manganese (Mn): ≤ 2.0

This composition balances chromium and nickel to provide corrosion resistance, while controlled carbon content helps maintain formability.

Mechanical Properties

301 stainless steel exhibits impressive mechanical properties, especially after cold working, which significantly increases its strength. Typical values (for annealed and cold-rolled conditions) include:

 

  • Tensile Strength: 515 - 1379 MPa (varies with cold work; higher for fully hard conditions)
  • Yield Strength: 207 - 1172 MPa (increases with cold working)
  • Elongation: 40 - 10% (decreases with cold work)
  • Hardness: 80 - 300 HB (Brinell) or 20 - 45 HRC (Rockwell), depending on the degree of cold rolling

 

These properties make 301 stainless steel strips/coils suitable for applications demanding high strength and resistance to deformation.
