This material has high hardness and good wear resistance, but is relatively brittle. It is suitable for soft waste materials such as rubber, fiber, paper, etc. Cr12MoV, D2, and SKD-11 are Cold work mold steel, these two materials have similar properties, with strong wear resistance and impact resistance, and are suitable for shredding wood, scrap furniture, high-hardness plastics, etc.

For example, home and small commercial shredders typically use alloy steel blades, while commercial and industrial shredders use carbide or tungsten steel blades.
