While there are many different types of horse fences, vinyl fencing is the material type that is a cut above all the rest in our experience. Vinyl fencing covers all the major requirements and designs that most customers need for their horses. Vinyl horse fencing is durable.
If a horse decides to test the fence, it will stay strong while remaining smooth enough to not injure the horse. Our fences are also built high enough to discourage fence jumping while remaining highly visible from a distance for horses in the pasture. There are some important things to consider when purchasing new vinyl fencing.
One of the key elements is the height of the fence itself. A proper horse fence should be 54 to 60 inches above ground level for maximum visibility. Larger horses, or horses who are extremely skilled jumpers, may require a taller fence to contain them. Bottom rails of fencing should leave a clearance of no more than 12 inches.
This height leaves enough room under the fence to avoid incidental trapping of a hoof, while still acting as a deterrent towards anything on the opposite side of the fence.
Openings in the fence should all be considered when selecting your vinyl equestrian fence design. Openings should be sufficient to remove the risk of trapping a hoof, or small enough that a hoof could not slip through the fence in the first place.
Fences should also be smooth on the horse’s side of the fence, with all fasteners pointing outwards, to avoid the potential for any accidental injury to your horses.
