Description
Shell and tube heat exchanger in the heat exchange there are two kinds of fluid, a flow in the tube, the stroke is called the tube; One flows outside the tube and its stroke is called shell side. The wall of the tube bundle is the heat transfer surface. In order to improve the heat transfer coefficient of the fluid outside the tube, a certain number of transverse baffle plates are usually installed in the shell. The baffle can not only prevent fluid short circuit, increase fluid speed, but also force the fluid to cross the tube bundle according to the specified path for several times, so that the degree of turbulence is greatly increased. The commonly used baffle has two kinds of circular shape and disc shape, the former is more widely used fluid in the tube each through the tube bundle is called a tube, each through the shell is called a shell. In order to improve the speed of the fluid in the pipe, appropriate partitions can be set in the heads at both ends to divide all the pipes into several groups on average. In this way, the fluid may pass through only part of the tube and back to the bundle several times at a time, called multipipe. Similarly, in order to improve the flow rate outside the tube, longitudinal baffle can be installed in the shell to make the fluid pass through the shell space several times, called multi-shell pass. In the tube heat exchanger, the temperature of shell and tube bundle is different because of the different fluid temperature inside and outside the tube.

Precautions
The hydraulic test of the shell and tube heat exchanger is equipped with an exhaust port. During the test, the heat exchanger must be filled with liquid, and the internal gas must be discharged. The surface of the heat exchanger should be kept dry. When the heat exchanger wall temperature is close to the liquid temperature, the pressure can be slowly increased to the design pressure. It was confirmed that there was no leakage after the pressure was maintained at the specified test pressure, while the pressure was checked for 30 minutes and then 80 % of the heat exchanger test pressure was insufficient. During the inspection, the pressure should be guaranteed. Keeping it the same way, continuous pressure should not be used to maintain the same test pressure. Fastening bolts must not be compressed with pressure.
