An airless jar is a dispensing system that protects its contents from exposure to air, light, and bacteria. Unlike a traditional jar where you dip your fingers in, or a standard pump that draws air into the bottle, an airless system uses a mechanical mechanism to push the product out without letting any external elements in.
It seems like magic, but it's clever engineering. When you look at an airless jar, you're actually looking at an outer casing and an inner, collapsible bag or piston.
The Components:
Outer Casing: The rigid, decorative shell you see.
Inner Bag/Piston: A flexible, collapsible pouch inside that holds the product, sitting on top of a flat piston (disc).
Dispenser Head: A pump actuator on top.
Piston Platform: A disc at the bottom that moves upwards.
The Dispensing Process:
When you press the pump, it creates a vacuum.
This vacuum causes the piston at the bottom to move upwards.
The upward movement of the piston pushes the entire inner bag upwards, compressing it and forcing the product out through the pump.
No air is ever drawn back into the product chamber. The space left by the dispensed product is taken up by the rising piston, preventing air from entering.
