Metal structured packing is formed from thin corrugated metallic plates or wire gauze in a uniform geometry. These components are then carefully stacked together in a tower, creating a packing solution widely used in absorption and distillation columns and chemical reactors.
Metal structured packing offers a number of advantages including a large surface area, a low pressure drop, and uniform fluids, heat and mass transfer efficiency. Additionally, metal tower packing is also composed of small profile and bellows in metallic sheet surface, offering a number of benefits, such as low resistance, uniform gas-liquid distribution, high efficiency, big flux and a reduced enlarging effect even in vacuum or pressure operation.
High Capacity. With new tower designs, the diameter of towers can be reduced while renovating existing towers can increase capacity immensely.
High Separation Efficiency. It has a much larger specific surface area compared to random packing, leading to better separation efficiency.
Low Pressure Drop. The lower pressure drop results in considerable reduction of energy consumed.
Large Flexibility. The scale effect is comparatively insignificant, thus offering large flexibility.
Suitable for All Tower Diameters. The tower design can fit many different diameter sizes, providing good versatility.
Strong Resistance to Corrosion. This tower design is highly resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, more prominently H2S, naphthenic acid and Cl- .
