The NVIDIA Quantum QM8790 is a high-performance, fixed-configuration InfiniBand switch designed for next-generation data centers. It delivers 200Gb/s per port, supporting up to 40 non-blocking ports with a total bandwidth of 16Tb/s. Ideal for HPC, AI, cloud, and storage infrastructures, this switch offers exceptional low latency, advanced in-network computing, and flexible deployment options.
The QM8790 leverages NVIDIA’s Scalable Hierarchical Aggregation and Reduction Protocol (SHARP) to perform collective operations within the switch, significantly reducing latency and improving throughput for HPC and AI workloads. It supports adaptive routing, congestion control, and multiple topology configurations including Fat Tree and DragonFly+.
The switch processes data in transit using embedded hardware accelerators. By aggregating and reducing data within the network, it minimizes the need for multiple transmissions between servers. Each port can operate at 200Gb/s or be split into two 100Gb/s ports, offering deployment flexibility and double-density radix.
