Metallurgy project experience
The converter steelmaking process of Henan Yaxin Iron and Steel Plant's steelmaking plant is relatively complex, with many detection parameters and frequent equipment movements. The accuracy of process parameter detection and the level of automatic control are directly related to the quality and output of molten steel. To this end, there must be a set of control systems with accurate and timely detection and high level of automatic control in order to stabilize production and meet the needs of enterprise survival and development.
Converter requirements for the AC VFD control system:
(1) The mechanical tilting converter can continuously rotate 360°, driven by 4 sets of 90KW variable frequency motors, and can stop at any position accurately. It should also have speed regulation performance according to process requirements. Its tilting position can have certain interlocking requirements with related equipment such as oxygen lance, ladle car and fume hood; (2) In the process of operation, there must be maximum safety and reliability. When a certain part of the electrical or mechanical failure occurs, the tilting machine should be able to continue to operate for a short time and maintain it until the end of the first steelmaking furnace. (3) The tilting machine should have good flexibility to buffer shock load and torsional vibration generated by starting and braking
Solutions:
Since these 4 motors are rigidly connected, the speeds of all motors are required to be absolutely synchronized, so the transmission of the 4 motors adopts master/slave control, and the data is transmitted between the 4 drives through internal communication. The inverter is used as the host, which adjusts the speed and sets the output torque. Other inverters, as slaves, follow the torque response of the host, and completely solve the "nodding" and "shaking" problem caused by the asynchronous operation of the motor.
-about rolling mill in metallurgy,last year we did one project in a stell plant in henan province last year, it is our regenerative drive application in 20-roll reversible mill project. In total of 4 motors:
1 pcs of 1900kW main winding motor, 2 pcs 2000kW winding motors and one 250kW unwinding motor. The input voltage of our inverter is 690VAC. The rated frequency of the main coiling motor is 18.2hz, the maximum operating frequency is 56.6hz, the rated frequency of the coiling motor is 12.7hz, the maximum operating frequency is 48.2hz, the tension control accuracy is less than 1%, the maximum rolling line speed is 600m/min, and the rated voltage of the motor is 660V. Our design for this project is 5pcs AFE +16pcs SMM inverter.

SIEMAG TECBERG group is a leading supplier of shaft hoisting technology. Siemens is the only supplier for them for the shaft hoisting system. But becasue of the shortage of siemens drives, they try inomax regenerative drive. The main request for the drives is low harmonics and high torque in low frequency.because in order to keep safety environment, the system must work at very low speed in low freqeuncy.this have very high reqeust for VFD.

What is direct torque control?

What is the benefit of direct torque control?

* Torque and flux can be changed very fast by changing the references
* High efficiency & low losses - switching losses are minimized because the transistors are switched only when it is needed to keep torque and flux within their hysteresis bands
* The step response has no overshoot
* No dynamic coordinate transforms are needed, all calculations are done in stationary coordinate system
* No separate modulator is needed, the hysteresis control defines the switch control signals directly
* There are no PI current controllers. Thus no tuning of the control is required
* The switching frequency of the transistors is not constant. However, by controlling the width of the tolerance bands the
average switching frequency can be kept roughly at its reference value. This also keeps the current and torque ripple small.Thus the torque and current ripple are of the same magnitude as with vector controlled drives with the same switching frequency.
* Due to the hysteresis control the switching process is random by nature. Thus there are no peaks in the current spectrum. This further means that the audible noise of the machine is low
* The intermediate DC circuit's voltage variation is automatically taken into account in the algorithm (in voltage integration).Thus no problems exist due to dc voltage ripple (aliasing) or dc voltage transients
* Synchronization to rotating machine is straightforward due to the fast control; Just make the torque reference zero and start the inverter. The flux will be identified by the first current pulse
* Digital control equipment has to be very fast in order to be able to prevent the flux and torque from deviating far from the
tolerance bands. Typically the control algorithm has to be performed with 10 - 30 microseconds or shorter intervals. However, the amount of calculations required is small due to the simplicity of the algorithm
* The current measuring devices have to be high quality ones without noise because spikes in the measured signals easily cause erroneous control actions. Further complication is that no low-pass filtering can be used to remove noise because filtering causes delays in the resulting actual values that ruins the hysteresis control
* The stator voltage measurements should have as low offset error as possible in order to keep the flux estimation error down. For this reason the stator voltages are usually estimated from the measured DC intermediate circuit voltage and the transistor control signals
* In higher speeds the method is not sensitive to any motor parameters. However, at low speeds the error in stator resistance used in stator flux estimation becomes critical

What Type Of Motor Is Compatible With Inverters?

Inverter motor type must be a three phase AC induction motor. Preferably, you should use an inverter-grade motor that has 800V insulation for 200V class inverters, or 1600V insulation for 400V class inverters. For motor size, in practice it is much better to find the right size motor for your application; then look for an inverter to match the motor.
