Why Preventive Maintenance?
A fan clutch doesn't usually fail without warning. It degrades over time. Catching problems early avoids the risk of sudden failure, which can lead to engine overheating and a much larger repair bill.

Simple Checks You Can Do

Listen: Once a week, pop the hood when the engine is cold. Start the truck. The fan should be loud for a minute or two, then get significantly quieter as the clutch disengages. If it's always loud, be concerned.

Look: With the engine OFF and cool, visually inspect the clutch hub for any signs of oil leakage or excessive dirt buildup.

Feel (Carefully!): Again, with the engine OFF and cool, try to spin the fan. It should spin with a little resistance but not be stuck.
