It is a non-toxic, tasteless, non-irritating, non-allergenic white crystal. It crystallizes in water as a single prism or colorless crystalline powder. Melting point: 226-240℃. It is soluble in hot water, hot alcohol and dilute sodium hydroxide solution. It is slightly soluble in water and alcohol at room temperature, and difficult to dissolve in organic solvents such as ethe and chloroform; its saturated aqueous solution (concentration of 0.6%) is slightly acidic; the pH is 5.5. It is stable in aqueous solutions with a pH value of 4-9. It is also stable in non-aqueous solvents and dry air; it can be decomposed by boiling in a strong alkaline solution and under sunlight exposure.

1. Emollient and repairing effect
Allantoin has a good emollient effect, especially for chapped and rough skin, it can restore its smoothness and moisture. 3. Softening keratin effect
Allantoin has a unique keratin-dissolving property, so it has the effect of softening keratin. While stripping off metabolic waste keratin, it fills the cell gap with water to make the skin moist and shiny.
4. Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects
Since allantoin is an amphoteric compound, it can combine with various substances to form complex salts. It has the effects of light protection, sterilization, analgesia, and antioxidant. It is widely used as an additive in freckle cream, acne solution, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, shaving lotion, hair conditioner, astringent, antiperspirant and deodorant lotion, etc.
