The high pressure fuel pump (High Pressure Fuel Pump, abbreviated as HPFP) is a key component in the fuel system of modern automobiles, especially applicable to engines using gasoline direct injection (GDI) technology. Its main function is to suck fuel from the low-pressure fuel circuit, pressurize it to 1000–2000 bar, and then deliver it to the injectors through the high-pressure common rail system, achieving fine atomization and efficient combustion of fuel.

1. Increase fuel pressure
The high pressure fuel pump acts as a 'pressure converter' between the low-pressure fuel circuit and the high-pressure fuel circuit, boosting the fuel pressure to a level sufficient for efficient injection.
2. Achieve fuel atomization
Through high-pressure injection, fuel is atomized into fine particles, which mix more thoroughly with air, improving combustion efficiency and enhancing power output.
3. Stable fuel supply
Under different engine operating conditions (such as idling, acceleration, high-speed cruising, etc.), the high pressure fuel pump can continuously provide stable high-pressure fuel to the common rail system.
4. Support precise ECU control
It works in conjunction with the engine control unit (ECU) to achieve precise regulation of fuel injection quantity and timing through fuel quantity control valves or solenoid valves, improving fuel economy and emission performance.
