Manganin wire is a precision resistance alloy composed primarily of copper (84%), manganese (12%), and nickel (4%). It is widely used in electrical and electronic applications due to its low temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR), high stability, and excellent resistance to oxidation.
1. Low Temperature Coefficient of Resistance (TCR):
Manganin maintains nearly constant resistance over a wide temperature range (typically ±20 ppm/°C), making it ideal for precision resistors.
2. High Resistivity (~0.47 µΩ·m):
Allows for compact resistor designs without excessive length.
3. Minimal Thermoelectric Voltage (vs Copper):
Reduces errors in sensitive measurements.
4. Good Mechanical Properties:
